Legendary Apostles 45 out now!

The heaviest Deep Funk 45 ever to come out of West Africa. Only two original copies are known to exist. Now everybody can buy one.
(until they're sold out...)

Both sides are equally devastating and pressed extra loud for maximum impact!

Where will these be sold?

They will hit US stores for Record Store Day. You should also soon be able to order from various online retailers and directly from Academy. I'll post a link as they become available!

Got it from my local record store last week and it is indeed excellent.

Would love to see some Guinean and Malian 45 reissues as well.. why not doing some rail band singles ?

So far we are focusing on Ghanaian and Nigerian 45sbecause that's where my collection has the most depth. I also have a ton of Guinean records and deeply love this music but the Guinean stuff is still relatively easy and inexpensive to find as original releases. These records are also difficult to license because Syliphone was owned and run by the Sekou Toure regime and I have no interest in dealing with Guinean government officials... As far as Malian music goes, I'm not at all an expert and I'm sure that there are a lot of far more qualified people out there to re-issue those records.

coolio Frank.. I guess you're right.. dealing with the guinea gov. don't sound like too much fun.

Still I'm hoping somebody do the Orchestre de la Paillotte lp, the Orchestre du jardin de Guinea lp and while we're at it the Pivi et ses baladins 45t- Samba would be nice as well.

This was a nice surprise to stumble on. Already ordered one a few days ago. Nice to hear that the Marijata & Freedom Family are still in the running.

Nice, tell us more about The Bayonets. Never heard of them. Great name. Digging the 45 series, gave me a reason to start buying them again.

Frank said...

The Bayonets is being pressed right now and will be in stores in a couple of weeks. I'll write a post about it once it's out. Both sides are killer!

Will there be more 45's coming out after The Bayonets? Great stuff so far.

Frank said...

Yup, I think we have 4 or 5 lined up already for after the Bayonets. I've always loved 45s and am really excited about these.

Do you sell records personally that you have brought back? There are certain ones that I am after.

Hi Frank,
How much for the Poly Rythmo 4? I've seen that there are two of them. What's their condition?
And besides, how much for the Psychedelic Man and Uhuru Dance Band LPs?
Thanks!

Frank said...

Psychedelic Man has sold already. Uhuru Dance Band is $250 each copy and Poly Rythmo Vol.4 are $150 for VG+ vinyl with slight water damage on cover or $250 for EX vinyl and clean cover with some little writing on it.

Use the email link to the right to get in touch with me.

Hallo Frank,

übrigens hast du mal die Soul Kids: Papa got a brand new bag part 2 gesehen. Kenne niemand der sie hat, ist aber in einer Ngoma-Discography gelistet. Schöne Grüsse aus der Schweiz, Peter
